The true origin of the Internet dates back to 1958. The USA founded the Advanced Research Projects Agency Network or Network of the Agency for Advanced Research Projects of the United States (ARPA) through the Ministry of Defense. The belief that the ARPANET was built to survive nuclear attacks remains a myth today. On the other hand, many believe that it was designed to withstand network failures, arguing that switching nodes at the time were unreliable. The reality is that ARPA was a program financed by the Pentagon, which probably had military interests behind the creation of ARPANET.
